The Royal Studies Journal publishes one special issue a year, normally in June, and offers the possibility of clusters in our regular issues. The Royal Studies Journal includes book reviews of works connected to the field of Royal Studies. If you would be interested in reviewing works for the RSJ, please send an email to the editors, using the email link on this page. Please indicate your areas of expertise and a short bio or attach a CV so that we can match you to appropriate works to review. Alternatively, if you register on the RSJ site, you can note your willingness to review books as well as submitted articles on the registration form.
If you are interested in reviewing for the RSJ, we also recommend that you regularly consult our Books for Review page on this website, where we advertise books available for review which have not yet been assigned to a particular reviewer. See the instructions on this page on how to request one of these unassigned books for review.
In addition, if you are the author of an upcoming or recent work in the field of royal studies and would like your work to be reviewed in the RSJ, please contact us to arrange for a review copy to be sent. Publishers - please contact us with the details of any forthcoming or recent titles that would be of interest to our readers and we can send you an address for review copies to be posted to.
The RSJ welcomes responses from authors and editors to reviews of their work published in our journal. If you would like to submit a response, please click HERE for full guidelines on how to prepare and submit your response to the journal.
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Submitting to the journal implicitly confirms that all named authors and rights holders have agreed to the above terms of publication. It is the submitting author's responsibility to ensure all authors and relevant institutional bodies have given their agreement at the point of submission.
Note: some institutions require authors to seek written approval in relation to the terms of publication. Should this be required, authors can request a separate licence agreement document from the editorial team (e.g. authors who are Crown employees).
