Abstract

This article describes the outreach project Teens and Tudors: Performing Heywood's Play of the Weather in the Classroom Context, undertaken from February to May 2014, involving the University of Southampton, ICLON at the University of Leiden, and Sorghvliet Gymnasium in The Hague. The aim of this project was to investigate whether the performance space of the Tudor Great Hall can be 're-created' in the classroom, as a tool for teaching secondary school pupils about the socio-political context of the Tudor court, through 1530s drama. In doing so, the project has aimed to explore the pedagogy of royal studies today, through a medium that had a distinct, albeit a different, pedagogical value at its original time of performance.
